Privacy Issues, 7″ x 12″ mixed media on paper

In my last post I ended with Bigfoot isn’t something I want to trivialize, but I do like to have fun with it. I do like to have a good laugh, even at myself, it helps keep things in perspective. “Privacy Issues” is that for me. It’s a moment when I’m in a public bathroom and in walks through the wall my Bigfoot teacher friend. The mundane and the spiritual crashing together in a humorous way.

Growing up, a few of my friends knew of my fear and fascination with Bigfoot and of course would take any opportunity to scare the hell out of me when we would be in the woods. Oddly enough, one of the nicknames I had for a while as a kid was Bigfoot. Not surprising though, at age 12, I was already 6 feet tall and wore a mens size 12 shoe. I was bigger than my teachers and every student.

Adding this bit of humor to it all helps me balance the experiences I have. To get caught up in the reality of is this happening or not, would be maddening. I prefer to just go with the flow of the experience and I don’t need it to be real to anyone else. I have no desire to convince anyone that this is real. We all have our perceptions of reality, mine is a bit more colorful and magical.

My artwork is a way in which I explore these experience more, be it with a Bigfoot or a brightly glowing Faery woman and a giant wooden talking head or the vibrations of my own magical working in the world.
